Iceland. It is out of the way, and the nature is quite exotic. I am going to visit it some time in my life for sure.
I am also thinking about Nepal and doing the Everest Base Camp trek, but that is more in the realm of "wild pipe dream", especially in view of the resent disaster.
To me exotic is like a fruit or a food item. How can a Country be exotic?
Exotic is something we are not exposed in our culture and or we are not used to.
Japan is exotic for me; as well as remote places like small islands ecc.. Exotic is a gradual feeling with something more or less exotic for one person. Even France is exotic for me, but less than japan, and japan is less exotic to me than.. ?? Papua New Guinea maybe..Papua New Guinea Is Less exotic for me than.. Mars planet.
It means only a thing we are not used.
Tomato was an exotic vegetable in europe when firstly it was imported from America ; today it Is no more exotic but common very used.
I find Western cultures pretty familiar, all of them, and as an Italian I find Latin American cultures familiar too: in fact I believe LA is very much alike South Italy.
Though my wife is from SEA, I still find East Asian cultures quite alien. I would put them in the exotic category without hesitation.
But the cultures I've been less exposed to, or that I feel most distance from, are the ones from Middle East and from both Arabian Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Any country in these parts of the world feels so exotic too me.
But since I don't have plans for a particular country, I think I will end up spending a couple of days in Dubai like the average Western guy.
Probably Morocco or Russia.
So far it was Germany.
