I used to decry this fact until 2014 when I lost a great amount of mobility on my right side. That's coming back, but I can imagine how it would be for single parents or the disabled / elderly.

Which businesses have drive-thrus in your country?
I can't speak for all of Canada, or even all of B.C. but in my area only fast food places and the odd Starbuck's have them....all outside of the downtown core.

Banks don't have them, nor do liquor stores or pharmacies. In the case of pharmacies people with mobility issues, such as my mother, just have their medicines delivered. Banking is mostly online and if desperate you can even have alcohol delivered.

I find drive-thru's slow.

I honestly don't think I've seen a single drive-thru anything here in Russia. Not even MacDonalds.

Here the only drive-through places tend to be fast food, and by this I include McDonald's but also coffee places like Starbucks and Tim Hortons.

A few pharmacies might have a drive-through window where you can pick up a prescription renewal that you phone in ahead of time.

We have some drive-through bank machines (ATMs) but to my knowledge no places where you drive up and get served by a teller.

Cities here are trying to limit drive-throughs now. They are bad for pollution and also cause traffic jams (especially the coffee places) in the right lane of traffic as people stop on the road and wait to enter the drive-through that is clogged with cars already.

There is one not too far from my place and in the morning the police are there and if you stop on the road to try and block traffic to get to the drive-through you will get fined.

Midwest USA

Mostly Fast food, banks, coffee shops, some pharmacies.

libraries have them only to return books

At some grocery stores and restaurants you can place your order online, go to the restaurant or store, park and they will bring out your order.
