I think the reason why the Californian coastline is so unspoilt, is partly the same reason why the European Atlantic Coast is much more natural than the European Med Coast. The Water is too cold for building tourist resorts.
No, I don't think that there are some unspoiled parts of the Italian coast.

You better compare Hawaii with European/ French overseas departments.
Hawaii is not an oversea department, it is a state, not a territory. Hawaii is as much a part of the USA as Tuscany is part of Italy.

Then there are those odd looking pines that are not conical and are practically unique to Italy, I love those!!!!

Italy is simply better as far as natural scenery is concerned.
Even the Palm trees in California are not native to the area.

Can I just add, that based on your posting, you seem like an extreme Europhile. You live in Germany, a place without a decent beach, but you seem to act as if every part of Europe is part of Germany lol. Europe is a collection of countries, the US is just one country. If you want us to include all of North America, I think you're gonna lose.
Hmm
The scenery of Germany is quite lame, but there are some decent beaches(with cool water), just nothing special.
I don't understand the bold. Why? Because i have been taking the Italian side in this thread?
Italy is about 130km beeline from me. I've been often to Italy and i've seen a lot of the country, but i've never been to the cities all tourists go to like Rome and Florence. Instead i've spent the most time in the region of Trentino-South Tyrol. Which is talking about the Scenery one of the most beautiful parts of Italy.( Dolomites;garda lake...)
When i think of Italy the Scenery comes before the Culture/old buildings to me.

Usa is just one country, but It's way bigger than the EU, and just a little bit smaller than the whole of Europe including the big Russian chunk.
And yes, when i compare the Scenery of Europe with North America, NA comes out on top.

It isn't so important at all. I am bored and passing the time. The two regions are relatively comparable and I was curious what others thought.

In summer, Garda Lake becomes a German colony
Being Italian and having never been to California, I won't vote, California has something that Italy doesn't have: desert.
Likewise, Italy has some better elements like more mountains with a better scenery and much more km of coastline, we shall not forget that Italy has also a lot of volcanoes.

Of course Italy. Not even a real competition.

The Amafi coast crushes PCH any day of the year.

I continue to post photos because I see this thread as an opportunity to share photos of our natural scenery, and to see the California's one of course. If it annoys you, just tell me.

If I'm not wrong, those one has not been shown yet.

-The "grotta azzurra" in Capri https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Grotto_(Capri))

The blue color is NOT from photoshop.

- "Colli Euganei"= "Euganei Hills" https://www.google.it/search?q=Colli...w=1242&bih=577

Italy has also quite a lot of rivers. The most of them are not so stunning, but talking about natural scenery I have to talk also about them.
Some random river-scenery:
- Gole d'Algantara (Sicily) https://www.google.it/search?q=Gole+...G-AJM7lpHTM%3A

-Dora Baltea (Aosta Valley) https://www.google.it/search?q=torre...nY9Xwg2YbqM%3A

-Tevere (Lazio, Rome) https://www.google.it/search?q=anse+...MNGrWnURL3M%3A
