That's just it. You get that variety in CA. Go across the bay in Oakland and the weather is noticeably warmer and sunnier. In fact, the coast in the Bay Area compared to inland areas can vary as much as 40 degrees F on a summer day. For every mile you move east, the temperature goes up an average of one degree F. Just within San Francisco, downtown on the eastern side of the city is often 5 to 7 degrees warmer than the beach on the western side.

I don't know California, I think I am going for my first time in next spring. Said this Italy is very different between regions. From Sicily to Trentino they seem two different continents. We have a humid climate and dry climate, places where we have 40 grades in Summer and places where we have - 20 grades in Winter. We have more of 7000 km of costs with beaches of white sandy, black sandy, of stones, enormous beaches and small beaches. We have the Appennino that divides almost all of the peninsula. We have the Alpi with the more high mountain of the Europe ( Monte Bianco ) and the ski resort among the most famous of the Europe. And the lake ( Lago di Garda, Lago Maggiore, Lago di Como and other ) when a lot of famous American actor have bought houses. We have the beautiful hills of the Tuscany and Romagna. In short we have much of natural scenery.

Italy. It stays greener during summer because at least they get significant summer rain, unlike California.

Oh this is a hard one. both are beautiful. But if I had to pick, Cali would probably win. Cali has everything, from dunes to beaches to mountains. Everything. Absolutely stunning.
