Unlike London, Paris has fast freeways going much closer to the centre.
So obviously, you will make less time than in small streets with traffic lights.
You can't compare the time between London and Paris.
I remember it took a lot of time arriving to Central London from the south when I visited it for the first time, not because of the distance but because of the lack of highway.
All the way was in medium or small streets with a lot of traffic lights.

Can Istanbul be seen as European? I know nobody thinking it that way, when people think about Turkey they think Middle East, not Europe. Nothing wrong with that it's a beautiful city but that's just weird.

Don't speak for me. I see Turkey as Near East (Western Asia).

Istanbul certainly doesn't feel Middle Eastern. There are neighborhoods that feel slightly Middle Eastern, and a few that really belong in the Middle East (like Çarşamba), but overall it feels more like a European city.
