I Love the style of life that we have here in Brazil, the country land is wonderful but I would like the US incomes, jobs opportunities and their prices of goods.
The thread is asking me about MY OPINION, and if I prefer to be a national of another country, OK?

And MY OPINION is that I'm happy to be Brazilian and I would never want to be American, Russian, Chinese, French, or any other nationality.

And no matter what you say, MY OPINION will not change.

Actualy the thread is about changing/choosing another nationality, not about expating.

Does that make any sense? If someone doesn't like their country, the only thing they can do is become an expat. I can't change where I was born.

That's a problem with a lot of Americans. Once I started going to other countries, my world opened up.

No I am mostly unhappy with Taiwan, and I would prefer to be a different national.

I wouldn't mind living in Great Britain, France or Germany - places that are closely allied with and similar to the U.S. in many respects. I don't think I could be happy living in a non-western nation long term.

However, I would not easily give up my U.S. citizenship. I see no point in doing that.

In the case of USA, it's permitted to have double citizenship

Many people do it for taxes. There's people who haven't lived in the USA for decades, so no point on keeping their citizenship only to pay more.

Generally people reffer to expats like temporary inhabitants of some country.
