If we take the old Roman saying ''Bread and Circus" Mr Trump is definitely a circus act himself. It amazes me how both the public and the media do seem to take him seriously.

I like him a lot for many of the reasons he is liked by many Americans, and for upsetting the right type of people (PC foundationalists, the liberal media, the economically illiterate), and for the fact that he is immeasurably preferable to Hillary Clinton.

It's usually the intellectually frivolous, who can't read beyond superficialities, or who haven't been trained to do so, who take his bluntness to be a clown act. There is a lot more going on there than is immediately evident.

I think this article sums up my opinion of Trump, who is someone I would otherwise dislike for his intrinsic personality traits:

Quote:
His popularity is traceable to the fact that he rejects the moral authority of the media, breaks their commandments, and mocks their condemnations. His contempt for the norms of Political Correctness is daily on display. And that large slice of America that detests a media whose public approval now rivals that of Congress, relishes this defiance. The last thing these folks want Trump to do is to apologize to the press.

In principle, he is a punk. In practice, he is a massive douche.

Mentally challenged liberals absolutely despise him. That can only be a good thing.

I like him. Absolutely uncompromising no-nonsense straight-to-the-face truth. He's shown himself capable of understanding geo-economic strategy such as the 'correct' way to tackle ISIL. (He suggested the coalition attack their oil infrastructure, the media laughed; now Russia have done so and exposed compromising vulnerabilities in their petroleum supply chain).

He needs to work on his statesmanship, but a fixation on the superfluous is part of the problem with the USA.

Arrogant and Offensive but Entertaining.
I like him as a comedian but not as the president of the U.S.
