Snow - it's usually not a problem. Problems is darkness and cold.
But if you make friends with it, you will get a lot of good minutes.
My "home street" (time about 3:30 pm, Ivanovo region, 350 km from Moscow):
Vladivostok seems to be an interesting city and have been interested ever since I found out about it, it's also directly across the ocean from me. But it does seem a little rundown, but hopefully with all the investments coming into the city, it will look better in the future, From the video Sui Fen He also looks interesting, it as seems to be better maintained and looks some what similar to an American city.
Well Vladivostok is pretty far south and is sunny all winter long, so it's not dark everywhere in the Russian winter.
People don't realize that a good deal of Siberia is sunny for much of the winter. There's a big dump of snow, then it's sunny for weeks, then another snow dump, followed by weeks of bright sunshine. It's cold, but bright and cheery.
This isn't true of the northern regions, though. I think that one photo was somewhere outside Magadan or on Chukotka or in northern Yakutia somewhere. Believe it or not, it's like that even in September in some of those areas!
A region where very white skin Europeans interact with East Asians.
Rare in the world.
Don't forget Harbin. There are fewer "white skin Europeans" there now, but back in the day, it was a happening place! That was before all the coal dust in the air, though.

Novosibirsk.
Sunrise 8:54 am. Sunset 4:08 pm. The duration of the day about 7 hours. If you work in the office from 8 am to 5 pm, then you just don't see the Sun.
