Which one is the best city? Zurich, Geneva or San Jose, CA (apartment, power lines)

What is up with all the random apples and oranges city comparisons on here lately? One is in the alps, extremely wealthy, and German Speaking. The other is a very American urban and suburbian sprawl in a Mediterranean climate.. Hard to compare two things that are so drastically different..
I would never want to live in San Jose, it's simply a glorified suburb made up of same looking detached houses and with nothing going on (aside from the existence of a couple malls i guess). If it wasn't for his proximity to San Francisco (it's still an one hour drive) i don't think anyone would even matter
Out of three cities i would pick Geneva even though it's the most expensive of the three, it offers the most a city of its size could due to the presence of the headquarters of several international companies and institutions
Are there a lot of well paying jobs there? How do locals afford the housing? Or is there government rent regulation?
There is a lot of rent controlled 'social housing' for people on lower incomes. A 'free' rent will be somewhere around 2,000 - 2,500 francs a month for a two bedroomed apartment.
Food is also expensive but bills can be kept down by doing grocery shopping in nearby France.
I thought that San Jose is the capital of Costa Rica
Is San Jose, CA a city? Looks more like a mix of business districts and suburban sprawl. Judging Google Streetview, San Jose seems to have a huge homelessness problem, and an outdated infrastructure (power lines, hideous light rail cars). Absolutely no touch of style. Many people are dressed like thugs.
Avoid this place at all costs.
