I think it would be a decent series if anyone (but Americans because we've had enough of those kind of threads from them) would start this kind of thread abouts his/her own country. As an Italian, i'm curious to see how this goes.............................

I've only been to a few. I like Venice, Florence, Rome, and Turin. I'd say Venice if can only pick one. It has the most wow factor.

But Rome is the one I'd go again, because it's the largest.

Unfortunately I've never been to Italy, but I vote for Venice for its unique style, its gondolas and for being the region of my great grandfather.

I've not been to every place listed but, of those I've visited, I can't imagine not choosing Rome. It really is the eternal city. Even with the pollution from cigarettes and noisy mopeds, those fade to the background when you walk through the city - layers of history all around you. Art, architecture, history, food, people - the richness of these factors and the balance of them in Rome is exquisite to me.

If I had to choose between those listed I would roll with Turin. one of the most amazing places in Italy in my opinion. I have been to all of those places with the exception of Naples and Palermo. I have been to Sicily but flew into Catania. Another amazing gem is Siena and Cinque Terre (I guess those would be towns though) which I will be visiting again in August.
