I think it would be a decent series if anyone (but Americans because we've had enough of those kind of threads from them) would start this kind of thread abouts his/her own country. As an Italian, i'm curious to see how this goes.............................
I've not been to every place listed but, of those I've visited, I can't imagine not choosing Rome. It really is the eternal city. Even with the pollution from cigarettes and noisy mopeds, those fade to the background when you walk through the city - layers of history all around you. Art, architecture, history, food, people - the richness of these factors and the balance of them in Rome is exquisite to me.
If I had to choose between those listed I would roll with Turin. one of the most amazing places in Italy in my opinion. I have been to all of those places with the exception of Naples and Palermo. I have been to Sicily but flew into Catania. Another amazing gem is Siena and Cinque Terre (I guess those would be towns though) which I will be visiting again in August.
