I chose Recife, Florionopolis, and Curitiba. I was introduced to these cities by this really captivating travel vlog:

I'm visiting Brazil for the first time this upcoming Winter. I CAN"T WAIT !! I'm really excited to be in South America for the first time. If I like it enough, I might even try to move there for a spell.

Out of those listed, i think Rio, Curitiba, Porto Alegre and Floripa are by far the nicest ones.

Belo Horizonte is ok but still it needs to consolidate more. Brasilia, sorry, but is a fail to me. Salvador is a bit of a touristic trap, with a nice historic centre, but also it is small and the rest of the city is filled with poverty. Recife has a nice skyline but it hasn't more to appeal. And Vitoria is like a little Rio. Nice but you already have Rio, so..

I` ve lived in Porto Alegre for 4 years and don`t consider it interesting in a tourist view at all. But it`s a good place for work.
Belo Horizonte is difinetly a consolidated place.
Salvador and Recife are among the most important cultural centers in Brazil. And also among the biggest cities, having both around 4 million hab.
Your view of brazilian capitals are not accurate.

I chose Curitiba because it seems like a very cozy city. It's also the "coldest" out of all major Brazilian cities, so that's a plus.

Sao Paulo would be a close second, simply because it's extremely massive and diverse. It's the type of city where you can see all sorts of different cultures and people, and where there's always some crazy **** going on. Even though I'm not really a city person, the whole concrete jungle chaos vibe it gives seems appealing sometimes.

Sadly, Porto Alegre isn't what it used to be. The local government has been horrible and the city hasn't been well taken care of- there is graffiti and trash everywhere now.

I was very sad the last time I was there, it went downhill fast.
