How can you have so many fat people, when your sporting facilities, and time playing sports, is so great?
LOL and England doesn't have fat people? While we have a lot of fat people, we also have a lot of people who are in great shape. Go to cities like LA, San Francisco, New York City, DC...you won't see many fat people. I can speak the part of LA that I live in when I say there seems to be a huge push to healthy eating and staying fit. Also what's with your use of the word disgusting? Jesh...

That said, belittling other countries by medal counts and excessive national pride are still very unattractive. The athletes won, not you, the only thing you have contributed to the 2016 Rio Olympics is boosting the channel rating by 0.00000000001. (not referring to you specifically, just generally speaking)
I see it this way too...it was THEIR hard work and dedication as individuals, as well as the hard work of the families that support them.

Thats so 1980s.

Doesnt happen anymore.

Hell, it didn't happen at my high school at all '89-'93.

In Texas, and I don't think most of us could even name a football player (and there were 80 of them- 5A/6A school with titles).

We win a lot of medals because we send the most people. And also because our population is so huge, the people we send are total cream of the crop.

It is incredible to see a country (USA) with a such sport culture being so bad at the Olympic Games. (same for China). How bad they are !

USA = 318 million people (40 medals with 16 gold medals)
UK+Germany+France+Italy = 268 million people (54 medals with 18 gold medals)

Europ is and always will be the best !
Europe isn't a country, it's a continent... by your rationale, we could just go ahead and lump the Americas together and the US would dominate even more.

The Olympics are a silly anachronistic throwback to an era of excessive nationalism and petty rivalries. Oh wait...

We're preparing for the hotdog eating contest when it becomes an Olympic event.

no, the US isn't that fat, It really isn't. Europeans (and especially Brits) need to give up on this narrative that makes them feel better. walking around my hometown I don't see a single fat person outside of the silver diner.

But even THAT wouldn't be fair haha...if we had our own Olympics then California would completely dominate every other state just like the USA is currently doing in these Olympic games lol.
