I mean, I know we're awesome and all but gold after gold after gold, it gets tiring at some point. Seriously, other countries need to step up, we're winning wrestling, swimming, volleyball, soccer(!!!), gymnastics, and literally everything else. I'm just in awe at how amazing we are, that's all.

That's generally been the case since WWII in those sports Americans expend the necessary resources. Nothing new here.

I'm under the impression that a majority of the medals are being won by the women athletes. I'm genuinely curious of what other countries have enacted anti-discriminatory legislation such as Title IX in the U.S. that ensures equal funding for women's athletics. Certainly has seemed to help them succeed in basketball, volleyball, swimming, gymnastics and other college sports disciplines.

I think that percentage wise (taking into consideration country populations) the Australians are the most successful Olympians.

Awesome!
Unfortunately, the rest of the world won't catch up by any chance. If you look beyond the Olympics, you'll notice that no other country has ever won a single NFL world championship!
