Several multi-year stints in the UK and Latin America, although I usually traveled back home about every 6-9 months. Did just over a full year in Costa Rica without returning home.

I haven't been back to the US since I got to China 2 years and 9 months ago. I intended to go back to visit for a week or so, but my wife's neuroses made sure that didn't happen (I had to spend a night in Hong Kong for business a month or so ago and it may as well have been five years in Senegal with a warlord). It is quite frustrating. I love it here but want to go back to see my family soon. Whenever I bring it up, she tells me we can save money and visit her family in rural Hunan instead, which is like telling someone who hasnt had water in a week that they can eat a handful of salt.

When we lived full-time in Mexico for five years, I went back to US for one month every summer.

2 years as a kid in primary school in Switzerland, half a century ago, then 1 year in Germany in the armed forces 40 years ago. I know, it's not much, and a long time ago. Since then, the longest period I've been staying out of my country has been 5 weeks (but it happened several times in the course of the last years).

3 months several times. Depending on the trip, sometimes I couldn't wait to get home, others I didn't want to leave
