Chances are higher that Flanders will join the Netherlands within the next 20 years than become their own country.

I just read that the Maldives are buying land in Australia since the islands are sinking.
The Maldives is a Islamic country with not that many people... Why aren't rich Islamic countries like Oman helping their Muslim brothers out?

Why? Most don't even understand each other.

Well lots of Swiss people don't understand one another either but you don't see anyone suggesting them splitting up do you?

I think Belgium is a nice country, probably not as famous as its flashy neighbours, but nice nonetheless.

But of course I wouldn't question those who seek independence, whether Flemish or Walloon, as that's a very low thing to do (and it seems like only idiots from big countries would do that, I wonder why lol)

I'm not so sure. There are differences between the Flemish and Dutch as well, more so than with the Walloons and French, at least overall.

Although hold on, you're a Dutchman so you quite likely know more than I do

Belgium historically is very different from Switzerland. Belgium united largely to finally end being ruled by foreign powers. It is a union out of necessity and without an outside common enemy, they fight with one another. The US is largely the same way. Belgium hasn't has a real external enemy since the end of WWII so the Flemings and Walloons have been doing a tit for tat thing ever since.
