There's an island in the Pacific that's just over 10,000 sq. km., and they call it . . . (wait for it . . .) the "Big Island"!

So I'm going with that.

Most people who come from large countries and contents would find Great Britain a very small island, albeit one with good transport links to Continental Europe and the world.

American Author Bill Bryson's book 'Notes from a Small Island' sums this up wonderfully and it should be noted that the state of Texas alone is almost 3 times larger than the entire United Kingdom.

but the thing is Texas is not a island
If Britain is small, why call it "Great"?

We are a small country, whether an island or not.

I was born and raised here and I fully understand this fact, indeed the UK is less than 100 miles across in some places and can be driven from end to end in a day.

I am not sure what your argument is, as it's a geographic fact.

You might be relatively small for a country but large for a island.

The biggest island in Finland is 1069 km2, so I'll say that. Noteworthy is though that it's not an ocean but lake island.
