Vancouver Island = 31,285 km2
The Netherlands = 33,893 km2
Maybe it just felt that way LOL Still, one island off our coast is the size of your whole country.
Ok, we have so many islands to choose from and you mention Baffin. Baffin is 507,451 sq KM . The point is that many don't truly understand how big Canada is. My own province is 944,735 sq KM and it's not the biggest province.
10.000 humans live on Baffin Island.
I don't agree.
You have just proven my point. I said huge swaths of the north have nobody living there. 10,000 people in Baffin Island. An island 15 times the size of The Netherlands. You don't think their aren't huge areas on Baffin Island where no one lives?
Do you think the same for the Yukon population 37,500 in 482,443 sq km, or the NWT with a population of 44,500 in 1,346,000 Sq Km's ( that's right over a million sq km's ) and Nunavut's 37,100 people living in 2,093,000 ( over 2 million sq km's !! ) don't have large swaths of unpopulated land?
This doesn't even cover the northern parts of provinces and places like Labrador.
So you can agree or disagree about there being large swaths of unpopulated land in the north of Canada, but you will just look silly thinking that 10,000 people on Baffin Island prove your point.
Misconceptions about Germany:
- It is clean (which you notice when you come back from a country that is actually clean such as Austria or Switzerland)
- The train is on time (it never is. never ever)
- You can ride as fast as you want on any Autobahn (only around half of the Autobahn is still without speed limits)
- It's safe and almost no crime (crime is raising and raisign, home security enterpriseses have record sales, police is doing nothing and if they do, judges are not locking up the criminial b....)
^^The European part alone is more than 40,000 km2, the Caribbean islands barely make up 1000 km2.
I just remembered another misconception about Taiwan. There's this stereotype in the Chinese-speaking world (maybe plus Japan) that Taiwanese people are friendly, which is a load of crap. Taiwanese aren't friendlier than others and a lot are openly racist towards SE Asians.
There's also another misconception about our Mandarin accent, that Taiwanese guys sound girly and girls sound "cute", which is also a load of crap.
