If there is a religious correlation at all - and I believe that is hard to determine when I also think other factors like location may have a lot to do with the potential for success in the case of some countries - it may also depend on 'what religion' and on the homogeneity/prevalence of a particular religion in any particular society - and how much and what kind of influence it has on the people it essentially 'controls'.

Without getting into the realm of discussing politics and particular 'religions' and their 'control' mechanisms - good or bad, that is about all I can say in this forum on this topic I think. Perhaps the thread should be relocated?

I find it shocking that 50% (so far) votes yes and think that it is a coincidence.

The richest and some of the most successful countries in the world are very religious. Qatar,UAE, Brunei,Kuwait, the USA ? Compared to such atheist hotbeds like north korea and cuba? The former soviet union and communist states where atheism was mandated and religion prohibited , places like vietnam, albania, armenia, bulgaria, russia, China,Cambodia?

This poll is kind of flawed due to the USA and it still stands apart from most of Europe in regards to beliefs and there are more atheists in Germany than the USA, even so the US has never been officially Christian country. Of course the USA is secular, but it not in the list of the least religious countries in the world. There are still several countries in Europe that a majority of people believe see themselves as Christian (Poland, Romania, Italy, Malta and Ireland).

Here is a clip in the heart of Dublin Ireland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaGj1rJdPKo It shows that Ireland is still religious with some of the responses compared to the majority of European countries.

Yet of course the most religious countries in the world are Islamic ones.

You do know there are nearly 200 countries in the world right?
All those Islamic countries you mentioned are only rich because of oil but rich only doesn't equal success. There is this thing called human right you know?
Cambodia and Armenia are a lot more religious than you think.
Former Soviet Union countries not really religious? Yes the European ones but the Asian ones not so much... All the Stans except Kazakhstan are very religious.

You just started this thread to try and promote some atheist agenda. People in religious places from qatar to the uae have better lives than atheist pits like north korea or cuba or even western europe and alot of the atheist world.

Electricity, water, and free health care for all citizens , education is free or free grants to study abroad, the government sends pension checks, loans can be had at low cost. If you need health care abroad, the government sponsors you for advanced treatment abroad and this includes cost of an accompanying family member. When an Emirati has a wedding, the Marriage Fund gives a generous grant to cover the cost of the wedding and there is a children allowance that they are eligible for.

it's economic growth and the advancement of capitalism which makes people less religious, not the opposite.
