USA is diverse ...no doubt on that but I think it is a little over stated,
310 million...includes about 45 million African Americans with distant link
to west Africa....and about 35 million Hispanics....mostly from Mexico,
some that have been in USA for centuries (like in New Mexico).

Canada still has an image of being mixture of mainly people from
Great Britain, France, and First Nations.

Maybe 50 or 60 years ago....not now.

In linguistic terms also very diverse just like USA. Regional diversity can not compare with american one, I will give you that
This is not at all true.

You are really oversimplifying things. For starters, define this distinct link to West Africa. This African American wants to know. Having ancestry five to seven generations ago from West Africa hardly makes for a distinct link so please tell me.

You also have your numbers a little backwards. Blacks (African American if you insist) are the largest racial minority and make up 13% of the US population. Hispanics are the largest so called ethnic minority and make up 17% of the US population.

Your numbers are way off. US has 60 million Hispanics, of which 36 million are of Mexican descent. How many Latinos does Canada have? 500k? In other words, about as many as the Fresno Metro Area.

And the U.S. has 326 million people. US had 310 million people in 2010.

That is really common in most Anglo countries to my knowledge, even Brisbane has about 650,000 immigrants coming from all but 10 of the worlds 194 independent countries, and it's hardly known for it's immigrant population at all.

I would be surprised if there were even that many.

About 2% of Australia's population are of Polynesian or Melanesian ancestry, and Asian in Australia does not include Arabs or west Asians (the figure for Canada at least does include them).

Thanks for the tip.

Does Australia collect racial data? The Census Bureau in the U.S. and StatCan does as well. Couldn't find anything for Australia, however.
