Most social issues
Canada

Worker's rights
Australia. Minimum wage and paid annual leave are more similar to Europe.

Sales taxes
Australia, because it's national. The price on the tag is the price paid, like in Europe. Canada has a province-based system.

Attitude and mentality
Australians and Anglophone Canadians are somewhat similar. Neither seems more "European".

I'd say Canada, especially since Canada has Quebec.

Perfect explanation.

What about national health insurance systems? Which country has a healthcare system more similar to Europe?

There are a few different models in place across Europe ranging from national health provider services to insurance based schemes.

Australia has national medical and pharmacy insurance schemes (Medicare and PBS), with most services delivered by private providers, including NGOs and not for profits such as religious groups. However state governments do run a large proportion of, but not all, 'public' hospitals. Your contribution is via a Medicare levy calculated on your taxable income, with concessional rates for low income earners and disadvantaged groups.

Individuals are incentivised to take out private health insurance which covers items not covered by Medicare (eg dental), and covers treatment in private hospitals.

Doctors are free to work in both public and private hospitals, and most work in both concurrently.

Canada DOES have a national sales tax, it's called the GST.......Goods and Services Tax. It's just another number for VAT and it applies to basically everything except rent, food, baby/children's clothing and a few other smaller exemptions and low income people receive a rebate cheque every 3 months. It is 5% but all the provinces {except Alberta} have a added sales tax on top of it.

Canada's medical system is 100% government. Canada in it's governance and social and societal views in much more like Europe {especially Northern Europe and France for Quebec} and Australia is far more British.

Err, Britain's comprehensive healthcare system, the NHS, is government run. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Health_Service
