I really felt like in a very light version of a Nazi camp when living in the Netherlands. I was told names to my face, pushed and insulted. The best people there were nice to me but in a somewhat distant way. Minorities treated me with respect.

I also did not found love. I am really disappointed with my study abroad experience and wish I never knew any other nationalities, as much as I find my own country people annoying, I was never treated worse before just because I'm from Eastern Europe. White German, Dutch and Norwegian people would welcome me with open arms when they saw I am White, only to snub me and ignore me when they heard I am from Eastern Europe.

I know judging whole nations based on the fact that all or most individuals from them you met were jerks is not OK, but on the other hand would you blame a Jewish person not trusting White Germans? It was almost that bad! I know I should let go of the negativity, but even now when I give them the benefit of the doubt, I get treated like crap. So do you have nationalities you avoid due to past hurt? Maybe someone that experienced the same can tell me how to let go? Tell me, I'd like to know and I hate holding grudges. Tell me how not to hate, tell me how to forget all the abuse, all insults, the smirks, the avoidance, etc.?

I wouldn't want to be friends with somebody who doesn't like people because of their nationalities. They only prove themselves to be ignorant. I had the opposite experience in Holland. The people were incredibly nice to us. OTH, the most blatant non-violent racism I've personally witnessed was in Chamonix, France. There's good and bad everywhere.

I really don't know what to think about the Dutch. I expected a liberal heaven, yet all of them would ask me "Where are you from?" and change their behavior when they would hear my Eastern European country. But wait a minute, if they are so liberal as they claim, why would they ask me this non-PC quesrtion. Why do they NEED to know where I come from?

Having experienced Erasmus myself, I'm pretty sure they didn't treat you like **** because of your nationality. I don't think that's making things better for you, though.

But "Where are you from?" is a non-PC question. Yet, all Dutch people would ask that first. This is offensive and outrageous. From now on I will refuse answering it. Jesus, it seems that I've been turning into a bigot like them.

I guess xenophobia breeds xenophobia. So next time, you see a student from abroad don't ask "Where are you from?". It's impolite and offensive. You can ask them 1000 other things. They are an individual, not their nationality. I am my own person, not some national stereotype!

How is that question non-PC? Are you trolling or really that insecure?

People don't like you because you are from Bulgaria but because you are an insecure, whiny, negative .... , essentially a SJW.

No sane person would like to surround themselves with people like you.

Your constant obsession with what's PC and what's not, terms like "Liberal heaven", national origin and your reactions to these things are why people are shunning you.

Where are you getting these ideas from? How is asking where you are from 'nonPC'? Sometimes people are just curious. I usually ask people where they are from when I hear an accent, I'm curious.

Also, if someone treats you poorly, don't care so much about it. That is THEIR problem, not yours. You will run into aholes in every country, don't absorb it. Always be proud of who you are no matter what.

Another thing- you say you are from Eastern Europe, Eastern Europeans usually aren't the most PC people in the world. Lol
