Realistically, an oil crisis that impacts every aspect of American life is a more likely situation than the US becoming a third world country. But in that case I'd probably head to Brazil since it's an energy independent country.

Even with the emerging economic powerhouses of China and India, there's still a long way for us to go down as a third world country. But if it were to happen tomorrow (let's say all "US" companies decide to definitively pull out of American soil and take all the remaining jobs and foreign banks simultaneously decide to deny any new loans to the US) then I'd move to either Canada or Ireland.
Under your 'war game' scenario: it would be new Zealand; if not, Australia would be my second choice.

Definitely would go to Portugal! Beautiful beaches and wonderful weather. I would be near France, Spain and Italy for vacation spots.

I may be late but I would fight the corruption to get us back on our feet because I don't think there is no place like home. Our country is the best and that is why so many people are risking their lives to get here because they want to be free like us.
