I wanted to know what part in your country is despised by its inhabitants because it seems like there is always a region of a country that is subject of mockery. For example in the U.S, Southerners are stereotyped of being less educated, rednecks/hillbilly, racists,etc...
I know in France, le Nord (North region) is mocked with consanguines and pregnant teenagers jokes.
Northern Norway, especially Finnmark county (drunken Samis on snowmobiles ) Østfold county (simple minded, tacky) Drammen (Still considered the tackiest city in Norway)
I think the two most hated states in the US are California and Texas.
"Hated" and "looked down on" are very different things. Mississippi and Alabama are the 2 most looked down upon states in the U.S. They are considered to be pretty backward.
Funny thing is - even those states are rich compared to most of the world.
Northern Nigeria- religious difference and the fact the North is poor and millions of Northerners are streaming into the south every year, and Igboland (Igbo leadership have had a tendency to lead coups against whoever is in power).
US- Deep South- especially Alabama and Mississippi, Louisiana would be on there if New Orleans wasn't the greatest metro under 2 million in the U.S for a variety of reasons. Same with Georgia and SC for Atlanta and Charleston respectively.
Funny thing is - even those states are rich compared to most of the world.
That just shows that sometimes being "rich" is not fixing other obvious problems.
BTW: lots of people in those states are rather poor and uneducated.
I also noticed that considerate amount of "rich and educated people" in the US are still pretty "backward".
Of course, depends on the person you ask. If you live in provinces 1 to 4, the provinces 17 and 18 are probably the worst. Many from Savonia and Ostrobothnia look down on Central Finland (8), as they are seen as a region without identity. 12 and 18 are also sworn enemies.
The south in general. The pollution in winter is horrid and the population is just quite peasant in general (though the entire population is pretty ****ing peasant, but the south is worse). There is no decent job opportunity (not that there's a lot in the north) and the infrastructure is very poor.
