GDP in $USD is all about "currency values". If China artificially manipulates its currency lower by 50%, then its GDP is understated by 50% (in $USD).

For GDP growth, one has to look at GDP by sector. Service sector growth is not real growth but just charging domestic-self inflated high fees like doctors. That's not growth. Overly simplified statements on GDP growth:

1). Agriculture sector -- this sector can not really grow.
2). Industrial sector -- this is real growth by making useful things.
3). Service sector -- fake, charging high fees.

Not everything is per capita either.
10 people sharing a bus is more efficient than 1 person taking a bus.

China has a lot of rural residents whose incomes are low. But they literally pay nothing for housing or even food.
Urban Chinese who have a stable job typically can afford a car and own an apartment, better than in many Eastern European countries.

And China has the most billionaires in the world.

I think most people generally don't believe money falls in that category.

Because India doesn't have Chinese workers.

Bingo

India seems to be less organized too.
More haphazard, chaotic....looks at street views of their larger cities, crazy.

I think Indian cultural norms might prevent this.

What cultural norms? Take a look at this shopping mall I usually go to in Kolkata:

I think he meant the cultural norms of where one always tries to do the least amount of work possible at all times.

Exactly!

It's a lot easier to build subways, roads, hydro plants, and other infrastructure when all you have to do is throw the residents out. China doesn't deal with these little issues of human rights, responsible government, and god knows any environmental laws. The government completely controls the media so they can also manage the message.

China is a totalitarian country where anyone can be locked up for any reason. India, despite her faults, is still a democracy where human rights are respected, government is accountable, and people have the right to protest.
