I just youtube'd Paris France 2017 - and a lot of crap is going on in France! Just check it out! Last time I took a vacation in France was maybe 2009, though...

Been to Paris lately and when? How was the scene?

Generally speaking it's safe and I wouldn't hesitate to visit as long as you take the usual precautions.

However, if you're asking how it compares to what it was like in 2009, then yes, it has changed noticeably in a way that isn't positive. You'd be a little bit more cautious than back then if you plan to walk around certain neighborhoods.

Better update your list to include the U.K., I guess.

Frankly, didn't notice many differences between my visits in 1996, 2004 and 2015.

Because Youtube sums 1/2/3 years of events in an area of 12 millions people in 5/10 minutes. Sorry you cannot understand that...

I don't think Chicago is any better... if, much more dangerous.
