Istanbul is also another city that is a football powerhouse. On a school trip of 30 days we easily played 40 different games of soccer with about a third of them on free to use football fields within walking distance of were we were staying. Whe in Istanbul you might see a lot of basketball courts but you should know almost all of those courts are usernames to play soccer more than basketball. It was actually very hard to find a basketball court that was used to play basketball. Istanbul also has the stadiums of Besiktas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce as well as multiple smaller teams.
I personally think the next Football powerhouse is going to be in China just because of all the money they are throwing at growing football in that Nation.

Some good news on the London Cricket front, with the Oval to raise it's capacity from 25,500 to over 40,000 and the current phase of the Lords redevelopment to add two thousands seats taking the total to 32,000.
