The court will only make the decision based on expert analysis; after all courts across the globe will take children away from abusive parents, and rightly so.

Charlie’s condition is exceptionally rare, with catastrophic and irreversible brain damage.

Our doctors have explored every medical treatment, including experimental nucleoside therapies. Independent medical experts agreed with our clinical team that this treatment would be unjustified.

Not only that, but they said it would be futile and would prolong Charlie’s suffering. This is not an issue about money or resources, but absolutely about what is right for Charlie.

Our view has not changed. We believe it is right to seek the High Court’s view in light of the claimed new evidence.

Our priority has always been, and will always be, the best interests of Charlie Gard.

Latest statement on Charlie Gard | Great Ormond Street Hospital

The fresh evidence will be heard at the High Court in London today at 2pm British Summer Time (BST).

It's pretty difficult to stay calm when a judge is forcibly taking your kid from you and sentencing him to death. I know a lot of people who would do much worse.

I appreciate it being upsetting however the child is terminally ill and dying, and the Judge is merely following the law in relation to the childs welfare being paramount as laid out in the Section 1, sub-section 1 of the Childrens Act 1989, Article 3.1 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights.

The Judges decision is based on the evidence provided by the doctors and scientists and the law, which states in such cases the welfare of the child must come before anything else.
