Also Asian American here..

I've encountered them in both the US and Europe and they're similar in both places. Generally speaking, those traveling in large tour groups will behave the way you described.. not all of them but a good deal of groups have that sort of dynamic. They tend to be far more well behaved when traveling as an individual family though, similar to Americans and other nationalities in manners and overall quality of interactions with others.
