Stockholm and the major cities of Southern California are nothing alike at all. Honestly, I don't think Los Angeles and Stockholm, for example, have a single thing in common with one another other than the fact that they both happen to be cities on the same planet.

Los Angeles is everything Stockholm is not and its advantages tend to play out to those factors, Stockholm has no answer for the type of things Los Angeles excels in. In contrast, Los Angeles cannot match Stockholm at the things it does resoundingly better than Los Angeles as well either.

I think a lot of people here don't understand what Stockholm is like. Allow me to show you (for those patient enough to view each picture below).

The type of person that is drawn to Los Angeles and all that it has to offer and all things culturally Los Angeles would never have a place like Stockholm on their radar unless they had extensive connections to the place either through family or personal business relationships (or some rare case with some random reason). The same is true in vice versa as well. The type of person that is attracted to Stockholm would never have Los Angeles on their radar. These cities are the polar opposite of each other in every single way, all they share in common is that they are both cities and on a planet called Earth together. That's about it.

So the OP will have to be more specific on what they want more of rather than things like "liberated women" and stuff like that (who really moves to a place for such a nonsensical reason?). I mean these are places across the planet from one another and are even further worlds apart culturally and socially from one another. To uproot your life to move to a place, you're going to need to be more forward thinking than just looking for "sexually liberated women" or whatnot (whatever that is supposed to mean). That does nothing for us in allowing us to help give you good suggestions. Be more specific and detailed on your necessities. As you can see, the type of person that prefers Los Angeles and the type of person that prefers Stockholm would have little, if anything at all, in common with one another. You also need to be more specific on where in Southern California too while we're at it, whether Los Angeles or San Diego, that makes a massive difference.

Not judging anything, trying to assist the OP. Everyone has their opinions/viewpoints. Tell us if there is a place there where the vast majority of women are attractive and physically fit, maybe who look like the blonde lady in that band ABBA back in the day. I’d like to know where.

The OP will have us choose between two social experiments of very liberal societies, with high standard of living so very expensive, one in the sun, the other in the cold.
The answer is obvious, and 1 other minus for Sweden are that it is a more coercitive society than SoCal.

SoCal and it's no contest for me.. the weather, the geography, the food, the diversity of people. Sweden can't hold a candle to SoCal.

You can say that again. I looked at the pictures. I am so impressed with how bright, clean and tidy and well cared for everything is. It's clear the people there take great pride in their lovely city.

There is no location in any part of California that could hold a candle to any of that. Probably not anywhere else on this whole continent either. We have so many careless, dirty, unhealthy slobs over here it's depressing.

The people in your pictures all look happy, fit, wholesome and healthy too.

Thanks for posting the pictures, they are well worth viewing.

While I agree that LA and Stockholm provide very different experiences, superficially, the overall tone of your post betrays a sense of provinciality. I take it you have never been to Arusha, Ta Khmau, or even Riobamba.

If you think that the only thing LA and Stockholm have in common are being cities on the same planet, you need to get out of your bubble of Western civilization.

Spend a week in the cities in which 85% of the world's population live and you will find that the real differences between LA and Stockholm are pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

I guess there are still a few places left on earth that are like that.

Eh? I'd say parts of Europe will vaguely fall into that, Hawaii in the US, parts of Southeast and East Asia. I don't see a requirement for little to no human infrastructure or very, very few people--the closest to that would be the "gorgeous scenery" request, but I don't see how that excludes having human infrastructure especially as he's floating Stockholm and Southern California as his picks.

What I'm trying to say is while their is certainly a high percentage of Stockholm that looks like your previous picture, particularly the City centre of 400,000 people and different dense nodes all throughout the city, much of the city is low density suburbia and tall apartment complexes also and that makes up the majority of the 2.2 million people living in the area of stockholm while i'm not even sure if a million live in the areas you described. that would be like describing LA as this

Pictures 1 and 3 are typical for the older suburbs that are close to Stockholm city and the last picture is typical postwar.
This is a typical suburb from the 1960s and 1970s, the so called million programme:

For starters, Stockholm is a city and SoCal is a region, with many cities.

So to make this clear I will change the conversation to Stockholm vs Los Angeles. To me, it's a no brainer: Stockholm. It's a far nicer, pedestrian friendly city, a short flight away from many other exciting European cities.

Los Angeles is sprawly, car oriented, rather ugly (in most parts, the nice parts really stand out like Malibu). The weather is nicer in Los Angeles, and the foreign cuisine is a bit better but that's it.
