Actually the NT is known as the crime capital of Australia. Santander state is not statistically that more dangerous than NT the difference being 5.5 to 8 per 100Thou respectively and that says quite a bit when you throw the Magdalena river region nto the mix.
There are places like Aratoca, Concepcion, Vetas, California (where they mine the gold) & Hato that have yet to register a single homicide in the past 10 years or so and San Gil only had one in 2017. Although it does oscilate between 1-5 a year sadly. Also infrastructure-wise I don't see a major difference considering how remote Alice Springs is in particular.

Not innacurate just out of date. Those are 2014 figures, the most recent I could find at the time.
Turns out the homicide rate dropped markedly in 2017 to 2.4 from much higher rates in all previous years. However, if you look atthe NT treasury's society documents you will see a 150% rise in homicides in the period Jan-Sep 2018. That means it rose to 3.6 for that period. We'll probably need to wait till April next year to see a clearer picture as Aus publishes it's crime stats quite late.

Lhasa because there are much less social restrictions.
Madeira, Portugal or Costa Rica?
Costa Rica. Can't speak Portuguese and Madeira seems a bit small and somewhat remote compared to parts of Costa Rica. Costa Rica seems like a hoot with all those forest highlands and beaches. and the Costa Ricans I've met have been very nice. Unfortunately, I find their food kind of bland.
Zanzibar. I admire Russian culture but that weather on the Arctic circle must be brutal. Also Putin's Russia isn't one I'd like to ba a part of.
Also the East African community countries are pretty stable. I'm sure I'd enjoy traveling between Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia. Not to mention the beaches between Zanzibar and Mombasa are AMAZING!
I would love to visit Iceland, smack dab between Europe and North America
Lagos, Nigeria or Lagos, Portugal?
Lagos Portugal, as been there and adore Portugal; as a nation, in fact it would be near top retirement European destination, it would be top if spoke the language with a degree of fluency.
Never been to Lagos, Nigeria, but while loving Africa probably Lagos would be too much even for me.
Probably for many Nigerians as well, a reason why the capital was moved.
Brick Lane , London referred to as Bangla Town or Brixton , also in London, both cosmopolitan, great markets, one Bangla Deshi origin, other more Caribbean . Both a little edgy. Both possessing some cool music venues, great food, lively, street live around the clock and good transit connections.
