That’s a tough one. I’d say about 50/50. Perhaps, I’d give Toronto the slight edge.

Dubai, UAE vs Doha, Qatar

Dubai, Seems like a more connected and more happening place with a bigger future.

Sri Lanka. This one is based purely on food. I absolutely hate Ethiopian food.

Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia vs. Bangkok, Thailand

Oyyy this is a tough one. Well, no, not that tough. I'd pick Bangkok. I think I'd really like living there. But I do hesitate cause Malaysia is my preference (personal connection) and KK is a place I've considered. But no, Bangkok is just a far more exciting and interesting city.

Johor Bahru, Malaysia vs Chiang Mai, Thailand

I figured that one would be tough! I've spent a couple of days in Kota Kinabalu and absolutely loved it. I'd probably love Thailand, too, but this one would be decided based on familiarity for me.

As for your choices, I'd go with Johor Bahru. It's a larger city than Chiang Mai, and I like that it's connected to Singapore via the causeway.

Staying in Asia, Manila, Philippines vs. Busan, South Korea

I’d go with Busan. Manila is just too chaotic and has poor air quality compared with Busan.

Alicante, Spain or Ravello, Italy

this is tough.. I love Spain, but the Amalfi coast is truly spectacular. If it was Alicante vs Sorrento, I'd go for Sorrento every time, but I think Ravello is a little small and quiet for my tastes, so I'll go Alicante. Especially because my favorite bar in Spain, Cervezeria Sento, is there.

Continuing with Spain vs Italy:

Santa Cruz de Tenerife or Cagliari, Italy

Cagliari! I've always been fascinated by Sardinia and that's an island that's a lot more populous and larger than Tenerife, so it won't feel as isolated. It's also closer to a lot more countries.

Here's some real island isolation:

King Edward Point, South Georgia Island, the United Kingdom or Port-aux-Français, Kerguelen Islands, France

I haven't been following this whole thread - has anyone mentioned Kyoto, Japan or Asmara, Eritrea?
