Based on weather patterns, sunlight, sunrise & sunset, and other factors - which sides of landmasses, in general, do you believe have the most positive attributes? It seems like western coastlines often have some of the best characteristics - though some say south facing is best. How would you generalize these pros/cons for which ocean borders are the nicest?
west facing are warmer/milder and east facing are colder/continental. The greater the distance between the coastlines, the greater the difference. As far as north/south, well it should be rephrased to poleward or anitpoleward, or something in that regard since north/south have opposite characteristics on opposite hemispheres. But in either case you can't make generic observations since the poleward coast of south Africa is different from the polward coast of north Africa which is very different from the poleward coast of Germany and Norway.

This generality doesn’t always hold true because Miami, for example, is east facing and is nearly always warmer than the beaches on the U.S. west coast.
Plus, many of the eastern seaboard beaches are warmer to swim in the summer than beaches on the west coast.
Rush hour traffic has to drive toward the low sun in both direction, if the central city fronts on the east coast. In interior cities, commuters who live west of the city are called "squinties".
West-facing coastlines are more likely to have mediterranean climates, which are the best in the world.
Wrong.....just a quick example, the Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal) west coast vs. east Coast....weather much better on the east coast and so the water temperature

The entire Iberian Peninsula is a "West Coast" for the Eurasian continent.

For one thing, Miami is a lot farther south then anything we have on the west coast and is getting into the lower latitudes. It is also on a peninsula so really isn't far from the west coast of FL and the Gulf of Mexico.
Then there is this little river in the ocean called the Gulf stream which is only a few miles off the FL coast until it reaches Stuart where it gets a bit farther offshore, only to come within 15 or so miles off the NC coast at Hatteras where it starts turning northeast. Eddy's break away moderating the waters on our Mid-Atlantic coast and it is the reason England up to Norway have milder climates then other places sharing the same northern latitudes.
The gulf stream is a 20 to 40 mile wide river of warm water which often reaches 90 degrees off the Mid Atlantic coast in the summer. I could go 50 to 60 miles off MD's coast right now and if there is an eddy (body of water broken off the main "stream"), which there often is, I could find 70 degree water. One reason why VA Beach, and Oregon Inlet NC, only 100/140 miles south of us, has a year round tuna fishery. It moderates the majority of the east coast.
