I know it's up for debate as to what a superpower truly is. For argument sakes I'll say that there are currently only 5 superpowers. USA, China, Japan, Germany and Russia. I know some will disagree, some will say some of the countries I list in this poll are already superpowers. When considering what defines a Superpower a countries Raw size, population, economy, standard of living, and HDI are all very important. I also wonder what countries have a stronger international presence and create a true global economy. Those are important factors when determining whether a country is a Superpower or not.
India only in my opinion... But there's still a long long path.. 30 years. They are as numerous as chinese after all. That's a huge demographic weight.
I wish i could say Brazil. We have the territory, we have the population but the economy is a mess. With a consistent growth in the GDP per capita of around 5% each year during 3 decades we could transform into a superpower. But without big reforms we'll have an average of 1% growth in the most optimistic scenario, so sad.
Probably India/Indonesia, both have the landmass and population to support being a superpower. Other countries like Canada and South Korea will probably never be a superpower, just powerful nations.

Well at least 2018 is looking a bit better. But yeah, Brazil has completely stalled the past four years, and needs a big boost. It wont happen as long as the Brazilian government keeps stagnant protectionist policies in place
I think the only serious contender here is China. While there are many countries who are regional powers in today's world, none of them have achieved superpower status.
China has the manpower and is not hamstrung to tradition like India, which gives it a tremendous advantage.
We'll likely have two superpowers in the near future. The US and China.
There is a saying that goes: Brazil is the future. And it will always be so.
I guess the only potential true superpower is India
