My point still stands about PC mall and your supposed trip there.
what I was saying: not impress with Pacific mostly underground mall with former Eaton, then Sears and now, Nordstrom. However, I do like a cluster of high rises up to 45 story tall in the outlying area of Vancouver, particularly along transit line of the eastside metro area. Nice going!!!!!

Sorry for hurting your city's feeling and bursting your bubbles, Nat. I'm just a straight shooter who is very honest.

Thank you for proving my " bit of Googling " premise.

ONLY someone doing research on a place, and not just a casual visitor to a city, would know the history of Eaton's etc in that location.

You haven't been here, so stop already.

You haven't hurt anyone's feelings. I just find the idea that San Jose's has a better downtown lacking.

Been to Vancouver many times: 1982, 1991, 1998, 2001, 2014, and 2016. I had a cousin living near Commercial/ Broadway skytrain stop. I only paid fare once since they're so cool and let me get away with free rides downtown and back and finally avoiding $4 ticket ride to airport.

What does downtown SJ lack? You probably have never been there, especially recently. You stop!

Comparing a city like Vancouver to San Jose is an insult to Vancouver
On my visit to S.F I took the metro to Berkeley to visit a friend many many years ago. I really enjoyed Berkeley. It was quite urban and hopping. I didn't go to Oakland. The OP has San Jose vs threads going on all over the place. I think he is just marketing San Jose and trying to get it on everyone's brain.

He says he went to Vancouver in 1982, so he must be at least late thirties. This surprises me, to be honest.

I wonder what city San Jose will go up against next? New York, London and Hong Kong move over. I guess it's the new top alpha city on the world stage.
