The Americas, including Brazil, is just overly geographically isolated when seeing Thailand's own relatively close proximity surroundings in mainland Asia. Further affordable airfare. Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore are less than $100 away on airplane for one example. And there is simultaneously also Safety(Absolutely everyone is having to worry about that for once!), and Food(Mexico, Romania, Georgia, France native cuisines are still equal tasty compared to Thai cuisine even if less variety). Sorry, Brazil doesn't even arrive close to Mexican cuisine. Especially if you want to always avoid food poisoning. Not a problem in Mexico. Hotel accommodation room without any crime. A country of Thailand motto. And the Brazil airports might seem a bit adventurous when picking up luggage. I still like to go to Brazil, although. And another nice exotic country to eventually enter with my own life. Although, I am visiting Thailand way before.

Brazil always wanted to be an agrobusiness, industrialized and business oriented country. I think it is the main point. Brazil had never a national touristic industry politic, Brazil never needed the international tourists dollars because it has easilly export surplus.

Some states in Brazil like Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and the northeast states developed independent their own touristc industry indentify they have lots of appel for it.

Another point is that most moneyed and middle class Brazilians don’t live in touristics places or close good beaches. People from state of São Paulo 45 millions people, Parana, Rio Grande do Sul and inner Santa Catarina 28 millions people, Minas Gerais 20 millions people, Brasilia and Goias 10 millions together the Argenteneans travel in mass, tens of millions, to all touristic destinations in Brazil every year. For example most tourists in Rio de Janeiro or Northeast Brazilians beachs are paulistas who are hard beach seekers. In early December and January São Paulo city is empty half of the city traveled.

So Brazil as a big country has a different dynamic in tourism than small countries that need international tourists to move on their touristic industry, international tourists are just a plus.

Another reason that everybody spoke is the distance of 12 hours flight from north america or europe, north americans and europeans looking only for resorts beachs and fun (what is most of the tourism) have cheapper and much closer options in Caribbe, Mexico or souther europe for europeans.

Good answer the other thing is that although inter Latin American travel is growing, it's only just begun to take off and the distances are greater than mych of Asia or Europe.

Bogota is further away from São Paulo than either Karachi, Pakistan or Osaka are from Bangkok.

Thailand is very successful attracting both Asian and western tourists, Taiwan can only feel jealous.

South America is far from most continents.

With no or few direct flights to the Americas, Bangkok has direct flights to airports in Africa and Europe including Eastern Europe.

Thailand has better marketability - beaches, temples, and Thai food is more popular than Brazilian food. Also, ASEAN cities are safer than Latin American cities. Even Southern Thailand and Southern Philippines with occassional terrorist activies is safer.

Just look at the murder rates in the ASEAN capitals vs LA capitals. Even Tondo (Manila's slum) is safer than Rio.

Thailand has a murder rate of 9 per 100,000 capita while Brazil has 25 murders per 100,000. And Thailand already has the second highest in ASEAN after the Philippines (which is 10 murders per 100,000 capita). Even the most dangerous places in ASEAN is safer that your average LA cities.

When exactly did Thailand start this reputation? Hong Kong, Tokyo Japan, Seoul South Korea started the earliest.

Why is Taiwan exhibiting those negative feelings? Unnecessary competition. Taiwan is equal to Thailand's own playing field. Including to foreigners. And there are three mega cities(Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung). After Bangkok, the rest are towns. Suao Hualien and Yushan terrain is elevation supreme.

I find Southeast Asians even further friendlier. Just what people prefer. I pick affordable Thailand lately.

To the citizens of South America, outside of Sao Paulo (Endlessly completely uninterrupted maze of high rises in the pictures!), what are the encompassing firsts of Brazil? Please don't say Rio. What specific features of Brazil is resembling Argentina, and Chile?
