I advise non-Americans to not vote in this poll, but, after NYC and LA, what is the third most well known/most talked about city in the US based on the poll. Feel free to rank a top 10 based on where you are from.
In the poll for the third most popular city, I included the options of:
-Boston MA (Harvard, MIT, Universities, Red Sox/Patriots)
-Philadelphia PA (History, Liberty Bell, Once the Capital)
-Washington DC (Center of Governmnt, The US Capitol, White House, Presidents)
-Miami FL (Vice, Miami, Center of Latin American commerce, Vacation/Beaches!)
-Chicago IL (2nd Largest city for a big chunk of time, Skyline, Huge Financial Center, Cubs)
-Dallas TX (Center for a lot of companies, Texas, Cowboys)
-San Francisco CA (Golden Gate Bridge, Trolley/Cable Cars, Hills, Super Diverse)
-Las Vegas NV (Gambling, Megaresorts, Buffets, Nightlife)
I suspect regional variations, (ie. Latin Americans --> Miami, Central Europeans --> Chicago, UK/Ireland --> Boston, Australasia --> San Francisco, MENA --> DC)

Interesting question....I am thinking either Miami, Vegas or DC...maybe San Fran's numbers in Asia might pull it over the top but I think Miami, Vegas and DC are known in more places around the globe
But it’ll be cool to compare these results with the other thread to see the difference in what Americans think vs reality.
There's definitely a difference. On the U.S. forum, DC was leading but lot of the comments were about SF as well but here it mostly seems between SF or Chicago. And my mistake on creating this thread on the U.S. forum yesterday especially since i mentioned the world "Globally" lol and i think it was you who mentioned that as well so Thanks, will keep that in mind in the future so the thread doesn't get merged.

I voted Chicago, however it's very close in terms of Washington DC and Chicago.
Washington DC being the capital and home of the Government, Supreme Court, President etc, whilst Chicago is a major financial and economic centre with a well known and historic stock exchange. Chicago has always been a big city and whilst all of the cities on the list are well known, I think after NYC and LA many non-Americans would answer Chicago or Washington DC is asked what Americas so called third city was.
I argue that Washington, DC is more well known than Los Angeles, so would put Los Angeles as the third most well known. Given that such isn't a choice, however, I'll continue on with the assumption that LA is the second most well known American city, and will vote for DC as third.
Every American has heard of all of the aforementioned cities I'd wager. In terms of who knows what better, I'd argue that DC wins hands down over the rest on that list. That Chicago and LA are more populous than DC doesn't change this, IMO. Americans (and citizens around the world) tend to know much more about Washington, D.C. (from it being the center of politics to knowing historical buildings) than they know about the others, IMO.
