I personally don't really see that. LA is really unique IMO because of the huge coast it has, and also how spread out it is (i.e. it obviously has a large downtown but it also has so many different "nodes," so it doesn't feel like a traditional downtown the way downtown Tokyo does).

I'm honestly not sure I could point to a region and say LA is similar to it. It's extremely unique in terms of cities.

I would say Miami would have the closest feel to Latin America as far as US cities go.
