Smoky Mountains is very under the radar outside the USA.
I’d say it’s Yellowstone. The Grand Canyon is the best known natural landscape, but is not strongly associated with the concept of ‘National Park’, although it’s pretty obvious that such formation is surely protected in a National Park.

That's true. I'd be surprised if the average person in Europe knew where the hell it was, and so I'd say the proportion of visitors who are international are very low.
Surely the answer to this question outside of North America is the Grand Canyon, think it was voted to number 1 must see place before you die in a UK poll a few years back.
