Grand Canyon got my vote, but I think Yellowstone would be a close second.

Yosemite is the best though!

The Smoky Mountains National Park. Considered one of the most biodiverse places in the world.

I'm with Aussiehoff on this, but I believe Great Smoky is the most visited. Probably due to population proximity.

First thing that came to mind was Yosemite. It's the one I've heard most of.

Smoky Mountains is very under the radar outside the USA.
I’d say it’s Yellowstone. The Grand Canyon is the best known natural landscape, but is not strongly associated with the concept of ‘National Park’, although it’s pretty obvious that such formation is surely protected in a National Park.

From a western Canadian point of view.

1) Grand Canyon ( although some may not know it's a National Park )

2) Yosemite

3) Yellowstone

4) Rocky Mountain

5) Grand Teton

6) Acadia, Zion, Great Smokey.

IMO knowledge really drops off after Yellowstone.

Those in #6 a lot of western Canadians have probably never heard of. Great Smokey, as someone mentioned, isn't at all on the radar here.

That's true. I'd be surprised if the average person in Europe knew where the hell it was, and so I'd say the proportion of visitors who are international are very low.

Surely the answer to this question outside of North America is the Grand Canyon, think it was voted to number 1 must see place before you die in a UK poll a few years back.
