I would move in with my inlaws in chiapas Mexico. Learn how Mom cooks and learn the language since I suck at it big time. Can I take my husband though? He could show me all the beautiful places and its right near the Guatemalan border so he could show me his home town and all the beautiful place in Guatemala?
What are some nice places that one can live on $2,000/mo. including rent? I'm thinking Southeast Asia (Thailand, Malaysia), South America, China, Mexico, maybe eastern Europe. Western Europe, HK, Japan etc. would be tough on that budget.
I'd love to take a few months off, rent out my house and just bum around for a while. Maybe look for business opportunities overseas.
That's hard to chose! I always choose a country I want to go to depending on how I am feeling! Right now, I am feeling both Brazil and Hong Kong so I don't know which! I guess I would stay in Salvador for a month and Hong Kong for the other 2 months! That would be a dream...
Or then again, Hong Kong is really expensive so maybe Hong Kong for a month and Salvador for the other 2. And I guess I would feel more at home in Salvador because it's so diverse. And they seem like nice people.
For three months, I wouldn't care---just give me enough to live on according to the local standards. Preferably someplace I would not otherwise have an opportunity to go to easily.
There are no bad places. Quite honestly, if I had to choose one right now and leave in the morning, I think I'd go to Burma/Myamnar. They are lovely, intelligent, hospitable people, and I've never met a travel;er who had anything bad to say about the Burmese people. I only spent a day there, because I had no visa, and it was a delight. If you're ever in Thailand, be sure to go to a border town and get a day-pass.
