The term bigger suggests size to me?
The Canadian Prime Minister is called Justin, so they can't be that big.

LOL - At least we have a large Johnson in charge rather than a Justin.

Carry on Canada.

If your country is so "Great", how come it's so small?

Because unlike the word 'bigger' which relates only to size the word 'great' has different connotations.

Great Britain means the greater island within the British Isles and is a geographic description.

The responses from the non-Americans in this thread kind of highlight how fragile you guys are about America. I avoid these comparisons like the plague for that reason.

My two cents: The UK is an entire nation of 67 million and will offer more, culturally and in terms of cities, but Washington is a more robust sub-regional entity than much of what you’ll find in the UK. It compares well to Scotland. I would say Washington offers more than Scotland.

Overall, I’d say Washington is better for climate, quality of life, housing, income and wealth, outdoor pursuits, and things like food, diversity of people, government and politics, etc, are about equal.

Officially:

- Climate: Washington
- Scenery/nature: Washington
- Cities: the UK
- Culture: the UK
- Cost of living: Washington
- Safety: Washington
- Economy: Washington edges it
- Future: I think Washington has more room to grow, so WA.

For the points that could be either-or: Economy might go to the UK if you prefer the dynamism of a national economy - for that reason, it’s kind of hard to compare. Culture might go to Washington if you prefer something more laid back, new-age, eco-focused, far-left, or grunge-y.

I thought everyone just decided to wish Washington State well and leave it at that, as the two are really comparable.

I like Washington State, as do a lot of Brits, and the Washington forum members have all been friendly.

Not sure about that. Seattle may be one of the safest American cities (and that's not saying much, especially in the 2020's and Seattle has gotten a lot worse from what I heard), but London is still one if the safest cities in the world per capita.
