Are you seriously suggesting black players are not allowed to play for Italy?
That’s ludicrous, and also insulting.
For the record, some black players did play in the National squad in the past
I said I wasn't sure about it, because I don't really follow soccer that closely, not really a big soccer fan. All the times I saw Italy I never noticed any.

Rugby is FAR more entertaining, and of course the nutters that play don't cover themselves in body armour either, as an Englishman I've NEVER come across another Englishman that likes American football. Obviously, like the rest of the planet I adore football (soccer) players are soft as sh*te though that's true!
I don't think American football is followed much outside the USA. I'm not sure if they do in Canada. Definitely not anywhere south of the USA.

Canada also plays gridiron football with the CFL, similar to the NFL, but with a bigger field, and 3 downs instead of 4. The NFL has played games in Mexico City at Azteca Stadium, and they always sell out. Every NFL game over the many years played in London, has been a complete sellout whether at Wembley Stadium, Twickenham Stadium or Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. I guarantee you if the NFL played a game at the MCG in Melbourne, it would sell out. The NCAA (American College Football) has played games in Sydney, that had good attendance. These games were not played with any of the big powerhouses like Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, etc. They still drew well with weak teams.

It's still very new to the USA as a professional sport.
Kids have grown up with baseball in the U.S. since 1869, Football since 1920, Basketball since 1946. Soccer here started for youth in high school PE back in the late 60's in some places, the real push for organized youth soccer in about 1974, with the older generation X kids now in their 40s. While it's still wildly popular with the kids, the professional MLS soccer has only been around since 1993. Here in Seattle it's very popular with sellouts every game, but then we have many immigrants from countries where soccer is religious, and for some reason it seems to be popular with the millennial "tech bros."

Wildly popular with kids because parents are scared of injury in the sports the kids would rather be playing.
Popular with tech bros for obvious reasons.....
