I always thought architecture wise the skyline of Singapore reminded of Downtown LA, but I still voted Tokyo for the overall look and feel with the modern architecture, dense sprawl with multiple skylines/urban centers, and the location being in a wide basin surrounded by mountains and the ocean on one side.
People voting Tokyo because they think Los Angeles is a good city to be compared to. It's not. Tokyo being compared to Los Angeles is a huge insult to Tokyo.

True, but since Los Angeles is the subject of this poll/thread one of the cities had to be compared to it. For me it was a tough choice between Tokyo, Singapore, and Seoul. But if any US has the honor to be compared to Tokyo it's New York, and that doesn't even do Tokyo justice. Meanwhile if any world city is comparable to Los Angeles it's Mexico City, and maybe Sydney.
I've been to near 10 places on this list and i grew up in los angeles. none has any look or layout of Los Angeles.
But if I had to pick, it is Seoul. I lived in Seoul a few years. I can find some similarities there. Seoul city has 10 million, 20 million in the greater Seoul area. Seoul is about the size of San Fernando Valley.
People in LA like to hike locally, so do the people of Seoul. LA people like beaches that Seoul lacks. Incheon beaches aren't a thing. Seoul has a lot of very wide streets like LA and multi lane highways. In many ways Seoul is quite more auto centric. Los Angeles has a strong separation of housing and commerce. Most shops, restaurants, bars, banks are located only commercial streets or districts like Downtown. Residential are generally behind the main streets and quieter, detached housing, spaces. Seoul doesnt have this, it's mostly gated tower blocks with names like lottery castle 101, 102, 103. But what is similar are how big Residential are in Seoul. Ifs often a bit of a walk to commercial areas. Which is why many own cars. I lived in itaewon. Small 3 floor villas, tight streets many shops below with apartments above. Many villa areas torn down for those big tower subdivisions.
Lastly Seoul is a polycentric city. Employment areas are spread out. Some big areas are yeoido, yongsan, gangnam Teheran, jongro, etc. Nightlife is spread out, too like itaewon, gangnam, university district. Out of Seoul, the cities in gyeonggi do are major employment areas with Nightlife, etc. I lived in Ansan city and didn't need to go to Seoul much I went to suwon, anyang, Incheon as much as I went to Seoul. Similar to LA, I didn't need to drive to the center like Downtown, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica. I was ok with shopping, museums, Nightlife, things to do in suburbs. Other American cities everything is in the core area mostly.
