Globalization (cooperation on a planetary scale) for securing endowed / inherent rights sounds GOOD.
Globalization (cooperation on a planetary scale) to confiscate property, consolidate wealth and increase power sounds BAD.
So which is it?
It seems to me that even the fact that the globalization of the world economy is forcing states to integrate into each other, creating favorable and competitive conditions, is enough. Also, it is always development in each country. The advantages are obvious.
Do you think that Fire is a good thing or a bad thing? Depends on the motives of te people who are entrusted with control of it.
Humans now seem to be kleptocrats. Anyone, with selfish motives, is free to foster any enterprise, regardless of how flagrantly it exhausts a limited resource. True, the motor car raised the standards of many people, but it enriched the kleptocrat moguls by such a wide margin, that the resource depletion benefited them in the short run, at a huge cost to everyone in the long run.
Some day, the world's people will have to deal with food depletion, but the kleptocrats already have the profits of the population explosion.
The only people who think it's bad don't understand how the economic system of the world works today at it's most basic form. There isn't a single person here who hasn't benefitted from it
I remember the days before globalization. It was fine. Nothing was imported. After WWII was over, I git a toy car made in Germany. Mom had a vase made in Occupied Japan. Dad had a necktie made in England before the war. Thet were curiosities, they would show them to visitors.
I had a friend in 1955 whose uncle bought a Simca, first foreign car any of us had ever seen.
We had canned sardines from Norway. corned beef from Uruguay, dried figs from Iraq. Everything else, American. Banana ads on TV explained how to eat the exotic things from Honduras..
The economy was fine. Grown men worked their whole life as a store clerk, SAHM, nice house with lawn, garden, car.. raised a family.
People my age would go back to those days in a minute.
You should look at poverty rates in the 50s versus today, you'd be surprised at how many others didn't have your luck.
Even better go ask a black woman your age if they would go back to having separate water fountains, lunch counters, and designated areas of the bus if they would go back in a minute.
It's good. I love south Korean culture especially kpop, Korean food and Karamazov comedies. Samsung is their biggest company. Car manufacturers are big, too.
The current definition of globalization is a bad thing. Its America giving up its competitive edge to enrich international bankers, and the third world.
Without globalization China would not have been able to lift the most millions of people in the shortest time out of poverty.
Yes they could have. It just did not happen that way. American helped them do it at the expense of America.
