In what foreign country can you name the most cities. Foreign = any country that you have never lived i. I would have to exclude USA and Canada.

During my nap, I named 40 in Germany. haven't tried the others. Eligible are cities of decent size that you KNOW exit, not just hypothetical names that probably exist, like San Jose, Mexico.

Most well-known countries, I'd hit the wall before about five. Tomorrow's nap, I'll try for 100 in Mexico.

For the USA I can name about 60, mainly because it has many large and well known cities in the English speaking word. Then after that I can name 35 in Spain, 35 in Germany and 30 in Italy. Most of these are because of my interest in European football.

Depends on the country. For some, I’ve got a good grasp, others less so. As a Canuck, I could easily name over 100 in the US, though nowhere near as many in Mexico.

Without directly counting, I can name a lot of cities in (I’ve excluded Australia, as I currently live there):

Uk
France
Germany
Brazil
Japan
India

And some other ones as well

I hit the 100 mark for Mexico. But filling out the last ten took a lot of effort. Some lovely names like Cienega del Toro, and Oxcutzcab.

Just made 40 in France, but only because I knew the capitals of the overseas depaartments
Stuck in 30s for Italy, Spain.
Only around 15 for Russia, India, Australia
Brazil iand Romania in the 20s.

Canada I could probably do 250, but I lived there.

Obviously I am most familiar with my own country and other European neighbouring countries with close links by rail, ferry or air.

I can name just about every European city, as well as most major cities across the world.

I was going to make a spinoff thread about how many countries can you not name a single city without cheating. It was really humbling because I thought I knew a bit about most of the world, but I really can't name a single city in the majority of countries. I went through and broke it down into able to name0, able to name 1, and able to name more than 1. Here is the list of countries I was able to name two(2) or more places:

Spoiler

Austria
Belgium
Brazil
Canada
China
Chile
Colombia
Croatia
Egypt
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
India
Iraq
Ireland
Israel
Italy
Jamaica
Japan
Lebanon
Mexico
Morocco
Netherlands
Norway
Pakistan
Poland
Portugal
Russia
Saudi Arabia
South Africa
South Korea
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
Turkey
Ukraine
United Arab Emirates
United Kingdom

It is really hard to do on the spot. Some place like Peru I know several cities there academically. when I see their names afterwards I know the city immediately and some fact or two about it. But on the spot I cannot think of them for some reason. I'm not sure if anyone else has this feeling
