I have an interest in transnational organized crime. What are the groups that operate in your city? What are their major activities-drugs,prostitution,gambling?

So, come spent some days in Rio de Janeiro, where I live. You'll know and see everything for that matter. Every days. You'll be a bonus about police corruption.

Nevada has a rep for the presence of organized crime due to the gamblng environment but it is very low key and discrete. The gangs are a far worse issue day to day and thier big cash cow is, of course, drugs. We are in a more rural area between Reno and Vegas and some of the bigger Hispanic gangs ( Mexican Mafia etc) have tried to establish safe houses in the area. They quickly found that folks in the area were not going to roll over as easy as they had seen in more urban environments. The first attempt at a drive by shooting resulted in good guys win bad guys lose. All the police had to do was tag and bag. They have since pulled thier profile down considerably. Honest armed citizens defending themselves was not part of the plan it would seem. There was also a reaction to them from another organization long established in NV ( a welcome one I might add) that further encouraged the bangers and wannabes to take thier operations elswhere. There may come a day when street gangs gain a more prominent foothold ...but it is not this day.

Chicago used to be the king of organized crime. Now it's just a bunch of kids with nothing better to do but tag buildings and shoot people.

Oh, and we have a higher crime rate than Los Angeles AND New York, making us one of the most dangerous cities in the country. Congrats Chicago.

I don't see it getting better for a long time, even with the Olympic bid.

None.
But the Hells Angels has a hang around or prospect club in a neighbouring city.
