in Stockholm during winter dont they get only about 3 hours of sunlight during the day?
Not in Stockholm
The shortest day (21 dec) in Stockholm is 6 hrs 15 min, and longest day (june 21) is 18 hrs 30 min, do the sun rise at around 3:00 am and set at 10:30 pm.
You think that's bad - add more rain and clouds, take away some snow and add lower average highs for the summer (and higher average highs for the winter) and you've got England!
Well, we get a bit more daylight in the winter but not much - I think the shortest day of the year is like 7 and a half hours.
But at least Stockholm seems to get nicer summers than we do, even though they are farther north. And at least they get pretty snow in the winter. Here, it's just rain, clouds, cold summers and mild winters. I would take Stockholm's weather over England's any day!
Having said that, the sun is actually out right now.
Ahh it's about the same summer temperature in Stockholm and London.
But London has milder winters and Stockholm has just below freezing.
It doesn't snow that much in Stockholm as you might think. Stockholm has slightly more sunshine than London and England.
Ahh it's about the same summer temperature in Stockholm and London.
We've had unusually bad summers in England the last two years though, which I didn't think was effecting the rest of Europe? Last year was even worse with all the rain but this year wasn't great either.
These were last summers average highs:
June - 66F
July - 64F
August - 68F
At least your average highs break 70! lol. I just hope next year isn't so bad. It's not so much the temps that bother me, it's more the lack of sunshine. England's stereotype of rain, rain, rain certainly holds true.
I was in Stockholm for a week this summer. It was BEAUTIFUL.
Mid 70's the whole week, sunny. Sun set around midnight, rose around 4am.
Well you had a lucky week. Sometimes it's rainy for few days in a row, and sometimes it's hot and sunny for weeks.
Sun set at around 10:30 PM and rise at around 3 am
Well, Seattle has more cloudy days and wetter winters.
Seattle has also mild winters while Stockholm has cold and snow.
Even better then. The constant gray is the main reason I hate Seattle. Though 59 sunny days isn't a huge improvement over 57 in Seattle. How many cloudy (not partly cloudy) days per year do they get?
I hear they also have artificial sun domes in Sweden. Is that true?
