I'm just asking coz I really feel like the people here in Europe (Prague) think I'm a gypsy or something...either that or I must look really weird and scary to look at...lol. It feels weird when people give you stares in the metros and trams or streets etc. I would really appreciate some honest answers. Thank you

Where are you actually from? As best I know, Gypsies (or Roma) are originally coming out of the Punjab region.

Some of the most beautiful facial features I have seen on a woman were the Roma women I encountered while living in Hungary.

Maybe the strange looks you get are because you are attractive?

Romany in Czech Rep, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, are rather dark like you. Some are a bit lighter. Romany in Finland are fairer skinned. As the Romany wandered from northwest India westwards they absorbed local populations. Still, Indid is a strong component.

Are you from India?

Could be.

Could be Turkish, Iranian, lots of things. It's hard to tell now days.

I would not think of being considered a Gypsy as a bad thing. Yes, they are looked down on, but to have such a heritage would make me proud I think.

To each his own.

No Turkish look like him. Iran is very big with a diverse populations. Persians are for sure very different too. He can fit among Pakistanis (definitely not Kalash though) and some Indian populations. Let's see where he's from.

There's racism and discrimination against Romany in Eastern Europe so he should be concerned.

You probably get noticed because you look striking. Thats another way of saying noticably attractive. People often just stare because they're bored, and you might be standing out in a crowd which otherwise looks the same.
It may not be a bad thing, but it must feel weird. I have artificially red hair, and I get a lot of looks on public transport, also I'm taller than a lot of women..and people just often STARE..which is actually quite rude.
Maybe get a donation for your favorite charity if they keep doing it..make them pay for the privilege!

I'm actually partly mixed. My mom is from Hyderabad, India (which is a persian and mughlai dominated city) and my dad's a half- Syrian Christian from Goa, India ((which is a former portuguese colony). But I never really lived in India (as I grew up several places: Germany, US (the most), England etc.) and I recently moved to Prague.

I really do like Europe a lot. Yes some girls do approach me when I go to clubs and stuff but later, they feel as though it would look bad dancing with a gypsy (not applicable to all the girls). I guess this is quite a big problem when living in a homoegenous society that's not exposed to other races and cultures.

What I find strange is that how come in most of these countries, I see african men doing so well with girls but Indian men are nowhere close? I mean not all indians are very very dark and short....there are many who are dark or light brown skinned and quite tall. This question has puzzled me for quite sometime now because even when it comes to interracial marriages, the white and black combination seems to dominate any other combination (white and chinese or white and indian). How come?

Btw for those are confused with the pics above, I've included a few more:

are gypsy's seriously this big of a problem? why do so many people not like gyspies and treat them as lepers? we don't get too many gyspies in america...at least not that i know of. when it comes to girls, only one thing matters: confidence.

Haha which is why I never faced such a problem like this before. US is a melting pot of races and cultures so things are quite different (even though racial discrimination can be as subtle or horrible as one wants).

But for some reason, Europe has a charm of its own. The culture, the architecture, the night life, the people is so much different. I really would love to live here (if only language wasn't that big a concern)...perhaps in England or Ireland or Norway.
