The Continental US has a few hundred thousand sq miles more than Australia (and less than Brazil), has about the same size as China...that which makes it much bigger than Oz is if one adds Alaska!
...sorry the Continental US+ Alaska is the same size as China, not just the Continental US! and a few thousand sq miles smaller than CND!(second country in size after Russia)
As much as we can jump up and down about it, Australia is only the sixth Largest Country in the world. At 7,692,024 Km2, Well behind the Continental US.
Though if you want to get into Subnational entities? Then the Australian State of Western Australia (WA), Is the second largest in the world, After Russia's Sakha Republic
Well yes, We're not all That far behind in size, But the continental US still covers something like 6.5 % of the earth? Whereas we only cover around 5.2 %.
We're a large, But still rather compact landmass, The US is on the otherhand, Is wider and more sprawling.
