CANBERRA - A plea for lovelorn female "ugly ducklings" to move to a remote Australian mining town to reverse a shortage of eligible women has landed the local mayor in hot water.

Mt. Isa Mayor John Molony was refusing to apologize on Monday for angering local women with a suggestion that "with five blokes to every girl, may I suggest that beauty-disadvantaged women should proceed to Mount Isa," in north-west Queensland state.

Saying that more "Ugly Ducklings", Should look for love in places Like Mt Isa? Wasn't the best use of tact and certainly can be seen, As quite insulting to local women, Who have every right to be annoyed. However, Australia's rural towns, Do need to look at bringing more female residents, Into Mining/Farming areas..As The Male farvoured population imbalance, Is a growing problem!

Yeah, if he (Mayor John Maloney) is any indication of the type of men in Mt Isa, I can't see too many women, "ugly" or otherwise, beating a path into town. Could explain why women aren't wanting to stay there.

Yeah, Calling women "Ugly" isn't a good promotion angle.
