Given the current economic situation it seems like the ones looking at retirement or actively planning for one with few years to spare must be weighing all options.

What places besides USA would you like to retire to stretch your dollar and lead a safe, fun filled life??

Iam very interested in the options that will be discussed

so you are looking for a place where the dollar is strong, that has low crime, is accepting of outsiders and which has an abundance of art museums & galleries/cafes/food markets/historical sites/theater/opera/sports/lovely beaches/scenic vistas, etc. and pleasant weather (presumably).
that rules out the Euro zone, Switzerland and the UK due to current exchange rates
it also eliminates most of the islands in the Caribbean due either to cost and/or to crime (not to mention hurricanes)
Argentina is a wonderful place, but it has a perpetually shaky economy
Chile is great, but earthquakes, big ones, happen often
parts of Brazil (far from the big cities) might work
have not been to the So Pacific islands nor to Bali and its neighbors
so, yes, where

I have been to over 90 different countries and still looking.

Maybe we all missed the real point, and that the real fun is just that, traveling and looking.

I am gainfully employed in Malaysia; starting my 15th year here. So, I figure, this is a pretty good place to stay in for retirement. They have a retirement program which has some good points, a few bad ones, but will be looked at once they tell me not to show up for work anymore.
